Guild members donate "goodies" for our troops overseas. These "goodies" include comics, candies, playing cards, books, puzzles, and trial size soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. It is so nice to receive a care package when they are so far away from home - and they truly deserve it!
Members also create and donate fabric envelopes to Hinds Hospice Angel Babies Program. These are for parents to preserve the keepsakes of their lost child.
Members also create and donate comfort quilts to various centers which include the DaVita Dialysis Center, Marjaree Mason Shelter, Valley Healthcare Center and the VA Hospital. The San Joaquin Valley Quilters' Guild made and gave away 564 quilts in 2010. Sixty-nine of them were large bed quilts for the VA Hospital and 371 were fun, fast doll quilts for the Fine Woodworkers Association.
